GHS CAPA: Vocal Music

Four choirs make up the department: the Chorus class, the Women’s Chorus, Chorale and Chamber Choir. The goal of the program is to enrich the musical talent of Germantown High School students by providing them with necessary choral skills such as sight-reading and maintaining harmony. The Germantown Chamber Choir is the most advanced choral group for students with exceptional vocal skills and talents.

The Chamber Choir prides itself in not only its small group presentations but also its individual accomplishments, such as placing singers in the All-Southwest Honor Choir and the Tennessee All-State Choir. Singers are required to audition for the All-Southwest/All-State Honor Choirs and also to participate in any festivals, competitions, and concerts throughout the year. To attain membership each student must go through a competitive process and possess some sight-reading experience.

The Germantown Chorale and Women’s Choir have a long history of superior accomplishments at the W.T.V.M.E.A. Choir Festivals. Students have earned the highest rankings as individuals in the Tennessee State Honor Choirs and group competitions at Solo & Ensemble.
